You can’t make a trip to New York City without checking out the dessert scene! I could make a list a mile long, but for the sake of your wallet, I’ll leave you with 5 New York dessert spots to check out on your next trip to the city.
Ice & Vice
I had to do a bit more research to discover Ice & Vice, and quite honestly, almost didn’t make the trip. Ice & Vice is known for the “add ons” to your every day ice cream cone. With add ons such as slices of pie, brownies and ice cream sandwiches, paired with the unique scoops of ice cream, your taste buds (and Instagram page) are in for a treat.
But let’s not pass over these ice cream flavors like they’re a basic vanilla, chocolate, strawberry. These ice cream flavors give NYC desserts a good name. Even the “basics” are unique AF, like “Milk Money,” which is Toasted Milk, Sea Salt, Chocolate Ganache. I know what you’re thinking, if that’s basic, than what’s a seasonal?! Well current seasonal flavors include Frose and Pina Colada, past favorites include Gold Digger, PSL and TBT.
Although I haven’t tried it myself, looks like you can even order Ice & Vice nationwide.
Milk Bar
I’m convinced that Milk puts crack in their treats… That, or I’m just really, really into the taste of cereal milk. Either way, I’m always down for a stop at Milk Bar! It’s a very simple New York dessert, but it’s on that I love nonetheless. I’m not saying it’s bad to be simple, but it’s nothing way over the top like a 10 foot tall milkshake, ya feel?
Milk Bar is, however, one of the only places on my favorites list that gives you the option of ordering a bunch of items but who doesn’t want to always order ice cream. From cookies to cake to lattes, Milk Bar has got your sweet tooth’s back. I can’t speak from personal experience, BUT, I’ve heard the cakes and pies are to die for.
If you feeling v nice, order me a cake and send it to my house. It’s only like $115 for a 10 inch cake, surely you can help me a girl out?
Cookie DŌ NYC
My first experience with edible cookie dough was at Cookie Do NYC. Yes, I waited in line for 2 hours and 12 minutes. Yes, I ordered a triple scoop of cookie dough and ice cream. No, I didn’t finish it all because it was that rich. Yes, I did cry throwing away half of a $15 New York dessert.
Any more questions?
Davey’s Ice Cream
If you are looking for a scoop or two (or three, no judgement here) of the best ice cream in New York City, make your way to one of the Davey’s Ice Cream locations. Davey’s has you covered with everything from traditional ice cream flavors to unique scoops. The smell of fresh waffle cones will fill your nose with goodness from blocks away. Seriously, the smell is THAT good.
Davey’s prides themselves on using the best ingredients for their homemade treats. This is something you don’t see too often when looking at all of the different New York dessert options.
If you’re a local NYC dessert lover, lucky you, because Davey’s offers delivery, catering options and pints you can take home. Now if only I can get them to send me some to Dallas…
Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer
If you’re on the hunt for an outrageous milkshake, look no further than your New York City neighborhood Black Tap. Before I even had my tickets to NYC booked, I knew I’d be stopping at Black Tap for my first ice cream experience. I’ve been back every trip since, whoops. These outlandish shakes appear to be more than you can handle, but I promise you it’s not quite that intimidating. However, if you plan on eating a burger while you’re there, plan to split something. If you’re like me, split the burger and get your own shake duh 😉
As one would expect, a New York dessert doesn’t come cheap. Be prepared to spent around $15 per shake for a lifetime of happy memories and a happy belly.
