It can be really challenging to find the perfect curvy denim option that fits perfectly in all of the right areas. I am on the hunt for curvy denim options for all of the curvy gals this fall!
For sizing reference, I usually wear a size 14 or 16. My waist is around 35″ and my hips are around 49″. I am 5’8″.
As I try out more jeans this fall, I will be sure to update the blog post accordingly!

Eloquii Jeans
If you are looking for plus size jeans, Eloquii is a great spot to try! They have their regular line of items (frequently on sale, I wouldn’t buy full price) and an “Elements” line sold at Walmart.
Front Split Hem Jean
If you have long legs, these plus size jeans need to be on your radar! They fit perfectly throughout the thighs, butt and hips. I feel supported but not suffocated. There is a bit of gaping in the waist, but not something that is extremely apparent. I might get them taken in a smidge after I wear them a few times depending if they stretch out or not. They have a seam down the middle of each leg which adds an additional element of support and a unique detail. As far as rise goes, they hit me about 1 inch above the belly button. They drag on the ground for me, so it’s definitely a jean to wear heels with or alter the length. There is stretch to these jeans which makes it super easy to move around, sit, stand, etc, but yet still enough sturdiness to feel held in. I would size down if you are in between sizes and I plan to dry these (I don’t usually dry my denim) after I wear them in order to keep them snug and not stretched out.
These $89.95 black jeans are available in sizes 14-28. I am wearing size 14. You can shop for them at Eloquii.
Flare Leg Jean
These flared medium wash jeans are some of my favorite jeans I grabbed last year. I love the little bit of distressing without it feeling like the whole jean is ripped up. These are a little shorter than other flared jeans I have, which allows me to wear them without a heel or worrying that they’ll get ruined by stepping on them (iykyk). They have a medium stretch, I can easily sit and stand in these jeans but I still feel held in. They hit just above my belly button and run true to size.
These flare jeans come in two washes and sizes 14-28. I am wearing size 14 in these $99 jeans. You can shop for them at Eloquii.
Good American Jeans
I have been a Good American fan for years. I know they aren’t the cheapest out there, but the quality is incredible. These days I am between a 15 and 16 on their size chart. With that said, I ordered both 15s and 16s based on what was available in the styles I wanted to add to my closet. Also something to pay attention to is that each Good American jeans style (Good Legs, Waist, etc) will fit differently, on top of the general differences in silhouettes like skinny, flare, mom jeans, etc.
Good Legs Jeans Blue655
I ordered a 16 in the Good Legs Jeans Blue655. As far as the look of the jeans go, I love the raw hem and feel like that’s a great way to still be “on trend” in a skinny jean (in the same breath, wear what makes you feel good). The wash is both super versatile and has a timeless feel to it, no major distressing or markings outside of the hem. I took a size 16 in this style because skinny jeans typically feel really tight on my thicker thighs and calves, but I should have done a 15 in this style. There’s a pretty good stretch in the upper part of the denim and they are too big on my tummy/hips. I think if I were in the correct size, I would get a bit more support in the stomach where as right now I feel like I’m constantly going to be pulling them up. While these are stretchy, I would consider them more of a “mid” stretch level. They are easy to stand up and sit down, move around and even get a fairly good high kick in, but they aren’t so stretchy that they feel like leggings which is a signal to me that they will hold their shape well! As far as rise goes, they hit about an inch above my belly button, even though they are big on me they aren’t gapping (waist band contours to fit your back) and they go down to my ankle bone.
These raw hem jeans come in sizes 00-24 and I ordered a size 16. Shop these $119 jeans at Shopbop, Amazon, Good American and Nordstrom.
Good Curve Straight Jeans Indigo124
I ordered a 16 in this lighter wash of Good American curvy denim. They are pretty roomy in the waist, and even in the thighs/hips, so a 15 would probably have served my body better in this style. These jeans have minimal stretch, so the other option would be keeping the bigger denim and taking them in at the waist. Despite being a little big, the waistband doesn’t gape in the back and I feel pretty held in and supported in the tummy. The wash is a bit lighter in person than I thought it would be. I love the distressing on the left knee, just enough without it being overwhelming. They hit a bit above my belly button and go down to the top of my ankle (a bit on the shorter side). They don’t have stretch, but in the same breath I don’t feel like they are a “standing up only” jean.
You can shop these $139 jeans at Shopbop, Nordstrom and Good American. Be sure to keep an eye out for sales! They come in sizes 00-26.
Good Flare with Deco Back Yoke A Jeans
I am wearing the size 15 in this Good American curvy denim style. The flare is pretty minimal on these, almost more of a boot cut. They are a rigid jean with not a lot of stretch. I can move my legs and sit in them, but they aren’t jeans I would wear if I was going to be going from standing to sitting all day. They fit great in the legs, hips and lower stomach (my shelf tummy feels very supportive and held in), but the fit is off on my waistline. They’re giving some major muffin top even while standing (but button and zip just fine). As far as rise goes, they hit my right at the belly button and do not gape in the back. According to the product page, they say these will stretch out a bit with time. I would suggest you size up unless you’re okay with taking some time to break in the denim.
They are $145 full price but I have seen them on sale a few times already. They come in sizes 00-26. You can shop them online at Good American, Shopbop and Nordstrom.
Walmart Jeans
Transparently, this is the first year I’ve checked out Walmarts curvy denim options. There was some hit and miss action for my initial order. I plan to do another round of orders to get the sizing right and then will be wear testing these to see how they hold up!
Time and Tru Women’s High Rise Curvy Denim Jeans
I ordered these Walmart jeans in a size 16 and they are very, very big. I would suggest sizing down 1-2 sizes. These are a bit closer to a “jegging” material as far as just how stretchy they are (I can literally do the splits in them). Because of the stretch, you don’t get a lot of the support/feeling “held in” on your lower stomach. The rise on these skinny jeans is about 2 inches higher than my belly button and they go down to my ankle bone. The inner thighs make me a bit nervous that they might start to create holes sooner than later because it’s a thin denim material. However, if you’re just looking for something to last one season, they should hold up for that!
They come in sizes 4-22 and I ordered size 16. Shop these $16.87 jeans at Walmart.
No Boundaries Juniors’ High Rise Mom Jeans
These jeans are made of a super thin material, so they might not last through many wears. They are very short in length and feel like more of a mid rise because there isn’t a lot of space for lower tummy pooches. There also isn’t a lot of space if you have a curvy butt, they fit me higher in the waist and lower in the back. With all of that said, if you do want to try these out, I would size up 1. I ordered a size 15 because I usually get 14 or 16 in jeans and think the 17 would fit more comfortably throughout the hips, thighs and waist.
They come in sizes 1-21 and I ordered size 15. Shop these $11.88 jeans at Walmart.
Scoop Women’s High Rise Flare Jeans
Be prepared for these to feel a little sticky as they have a “coating” on them. They were hard to pull apart from themselves in the package and felt a little sticky on my legs wearing them. I’m presuming this goes away when you wash them the first time. They do run a little small, so I would go up a size. They feel like they’re made for someone without much of a curve (hips, butt, tummy). I can button them at my waist, but I can’t zip them and it feels like they are showing my thong on the backside. I think these pants have the potential to be styled in a lot of fun ways and feel fairly good quality for the lower price point. These hit right below my belly button (assuming a size up they’ll hit my belly button) and go down to the ground on me lengthwise.
They come in sizes 0-18 and I ordered size 14. Shop these $36 jeans at Walmart.
Sofia Jeans by Sofia Vergara Women’s Melisa High-Rise Flare Jeans
I don’t say this lightly… These are one of my favorite pairs of jeans of the season at first try on! I am wearing a size 16 and they fit really comfortably on the hips and tummy. There is space in the back, but it’s not gaping outward. The button down fly feels like an extra “hug” on my tummy and supports it. This dark wash looks really elegant and there’s a pretty good amount of stretch without it feeling like a “jegging”. I wish the flare was a smidge more pronounced, but I don’t hate the silhouette by any means. The jeans hit about 1 inch above my belly button and hit the top of the ground length wise. I do feel like the denim will need to be dried after 2 wears in order to not fully lose the shape and stretch out. But on the bright-side, I don’t think my thighs will destroy these before the seasons are over. Are they the best fitting, quality, shapely jeans? No. But for $30, I feel like this is getting you a lot of bang for your buck!
They come in sizes 00-22 and I ordered size 16. Shop these $29.50 jeans at Walmart.
Free Assembly Women’s Original 90’s Straight Jeans
These jeans feel really high quality, which is great for a $32 price point! I actually got delivered the wrong size, but I’m glad I did because they would have been way too small in a 14 or 16. I think 18 is my magic number with these, so size up 1-2. These are also “short” and I need regular length. These go about 1 inch above my belly button and hit about 3 inches above my ankle. There is enough stretch to move around in, so it makes you feels really held in. The amount of distressing is great for a little something something and not being over the top. The denim itself feels thick and heavy duty, I don’t think my thighs will eat it up in a few wears. This is definitely a keeper for me once I get the sizing/length swapped! Also, if you’re looking for a way to make jeans that fit your thighs and hips but not your waist work, this post dives into how to make jeans waist smaller!
They come in sizes 0-20. Shop these $32 jeans at Walmart.
Sofia Jeans by Sofia Vergara Women’s Diana Super High Rise Palazzo Jeans
The silhouette of these jeans is possibly my favorite of all the Walmart denim I tried. The waistline hits a bit of my belly button and the leg opening creates a really long shape. I ordered a 16 in these and wish I would have tried the 14. I feel like this pair would lose shape quickly because they are already bunching up, but a size down should solve that.
They come in sizes 00-22. Shop these $32.50 jeans at Walmart.
Warp and Weft
Another new to me brand for curvy jeans is Warp and Weft. I tried out two different styles in the plus size jean range.
Mia High Rise Flare Summertime
They come in sizes 14-22 and I ordered a size 14. Shop these at Warp and Weft. Straight sizing available in 00-14.
ASE Plus High Rise Straight Pacific
They come in sizes 14-22 and I ordered a size 14. Shop these at Warp and Weft.
ABLE
Unfortunately, I struck out with my jean experience with ABLE. I’m looking forward to seeing size expansion in the future and will give them another try! The quality feels fantastic and they have some great colors and styles.
The Whitney Boyfriend
The material of these jeans feels heavenly. It’s soft but not overly soft in a “this couldn’t be denim” way. They do run pretty small if you have thighs and hips. I am wearing 33, the largest size available, and I can’t pull them all the way up my inner thighs, they get stuck about 3 inches lower than they should. I would probably need 2 sizes up to make this jean work for my thighs and hips. It has a button fly (no zipper) and I am imagining the rise goes to the belly button. Length wise, they would probably hit me mid ankle. I love the fullness of the jeans curly denim once they hit the knee, it really is a fabulous silhouette with just a smidge of distressing.
They come in sizes 23-33 and I ordered size 33. Shop these $95 jeans at ABLE.
Chelsie Classic High Rise Straight
I am wearing a 33 in these, the largest size available. These jeans are much more rigid and offer very little stretch. Unfortunately I can’t pull them up past my hips to give much feedback in terms of rise, length, etc. I would suggest sizing up a few sizes if you have larger thighs and hips. They are a zipper and button closure and have a fun frayed hem.
They come in sizes 23-33 and I ordered size 33. Shop these $98 jeans at ABLE.
