15 Valentine’s Day Date Ideas in Dallas Fort Worth
Whether you’re headed on a first date, or spending time with you long-time lover, this list of Valentine’s Day date ideas in DFW will help you figure out the perfect way to spend time together. Most of the dates will get you out of the house, but there are a few you can enjoy from the comfort of your own home, too!
Go to Dinner and a Movie, with a Twist
If you haven’t been to Alamo Drafthouse, you’re doing it wrong. This is my favorite movie theatre in DFW. They have a delicious menu full of tasty food and drinks, comfortable seating and a great selection of movies, all without costing you an arm and leg to experience (relatively speaking). This Valentine’s Day season there are a few special showings around DFW, including Runaway Bride and The Wedding Singer Movie Party! Of course you can also catch regularly scheduled programming, too.
Enjoy a Progressive Dinner in a New-To-You Area of DFW
Have you explored all of the cool areas of the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex? Chances are the answer is no. There is much to do in DFW, it’s impossible to have done it all! Plano’s Legacy West, The Hill at Walnut Hill and 75, Boardwalk at Granite Park in Plano, Historic Downtown McKinney, Bishop Arts District and Grandscape in The Colony are just a few ideas of where you can venture to.
Once you pick your location, open up Google maps and select somewhere to for appetizers and a drink, somewhere for dinner and then somewhere for dessert. If you’re feeling super adventurous, add in an activity in the area. The best part is you can walk from place to place. Here’s an example: you’re going to explore Grandscape at The Colony. Start with drinks and appetizers at Barley Board, then move to Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse for your main course and end at The Baked Bear for dessert. While you’re there, pop into Sixes for a game of cricket!
Unwind and Relax with a Spa Day (or Night)
Nothing beats an hour (or so) of pure relaxation. Spoil your lover and schedule appointments at Vivian’s Boutique Spa in Lowest Greenville. Vivian’s offers massages, facials and foot rituals. For Valentine’s Day, Vivian’s is introducing 3 new services to help you enjoy some tender loving care: Double-Dipped Chocolate Strawberry Massage, Rose Bouquet Facial, or sit back and Champagne Fizz Foot Ritual. You can also take advantage of special packages for couples. All the details on the Valentine’s Day Spa Specials here. PS- Joel is my go to for massages!
Dust Off Your Dancing Shoes and Take a Lesson
How could we talk about Valentine’s Day date ideas in DFW without sharing a place to dance with your lovebird? Dancing is truly one of the most sensual ways to spend time together, so Valentine’s Day is the perfect occasion to book a lesson. Studio 22 offers both private dance lessons and group classes, in styles such as Ballroom, Salsa, Latin and more.
Escape the Valentine’s Day Date Cliches
Sorry for being punny (but not really). Book an escape room at The Escape Game The Colony with your partner, and you can make it a double or triple date night with a few friends. It’s a true adrenaline rush to see if you can get out of the themed room, and just how quickly.
Have Better Than Sex Desserts in Historic Downtown Plano
The name Better Than Sex Desserts really says it all. Dress up a bit and enjoy a night eating sensual desserts and tasting delicious drinks at this swanky Downtown Plano dessert shop. If you’re not ready to go home right after, you can always pop by a neighboring bar for a night cap And on the flip side, you can also order your treats for take out and enjoy everything from the comfort of your home.
Get a Room…
You know the whole “cliche prom night get a hotel room” scenario (that most of us probably never lived)? Live it now. Book a hotel room and spend the evening with your boo in total privacy. Order room service for dinner. Wear a comfy robe. Turn off your phones. Just be together. A few of my favorite Dallas Fort Worth metroplex hotels are: The Adolphus in downtown Dallas and Omni Frisco Hotel at The Star.
Let Your Competitive Side Loose
Spend the evening competing with each other in your favorite arcade games. Add in some good bar food and you’ve got yourself the perfect laid back Valentine’s Day date night. Personally, we are big fans of Free Play Arcade – Richardson, but there are other options throughout DFW you can visit!
Take a Long Weekend Road Trip
A quick drive north to Chocktaw Casino and Resort Durant will give you an out of the ordinary weekend (vibe: Vegas) without having to spend a ton of money on travel. Play some games, enjoy the spa, dine and drink the weekend away with you date!
Tour Your Favorite DFW Brewery
If there is one thing DFW isn’t short of, it’s breweries. Whether you’re a beer or cider couple, you can find a cool spot on this brewery list to celebrate the holiday with a few cold ones.
Get Your Hands Dirty in the Kitchen
One of my favorite date nights of all times is cooking with my husband. Stay with me here. You get to learn something new, use all your different senses, be in close proximity to your partner and get to reap the rewards at the end. Sure you can cook at home, but this is more fun. And no one has to do the dishes… Check out this list of baking and cooking classes in DFW.
Pick Up Your Italian Takeout Favorites at Eataly
Start your date with a cozy trip to Eataly to pick up some tasty food, desserts and something to sip on. Then you can go home and spend a romantic evening together on the couch or your backyard. Want to get out of the house? Take your meal on a picnic to a romantic spot in Dallas like the Prairie Creek Waterfall or White Rock Lake.
Take a Tour de Ice Cream
Share a scoop of ice cream at some of tastiest ice cream spots around DFW. A few “musts” on your list should include: Sweet Firefly and Tongue and Cheek, both in Richardson, Howdy Homemade on Inwood in Dallas, Azurcar in Bishop Arts, Cauldron near Knox Henderson and Jeni’s in Victory Park and Deep Ellum.
Work with Your Hands
Whether you’re a pottery expert, or a first timer, you can book a pottery class for your and your partner to celebrate Valentine’s Day! It’s a relaxing activity and it lets you dip into your creative side. Plus, who doesn’t like getting a little dirty with their hands? Quiggly’s Clayhouse in Richardson offers couple’s wheel night classes, regular adult classes and private classes. Check out all the details on classes and packages.
Make a Reservation
And, if you’re gonna go the route of a dinner for your Valentine’s Day date in DFW, book those reservations ASAP! A few romantic restaurants and other great DFW date night restaurants to help you!
