Almost all of the products I use for my hair on a daily basis can be purchased online from Ulta for under $20!! I love finding ways to save on products like these so I don’t feel as bad for what I spend on my shampoo, conditioner and hot tools. Affordable hair products coming your way…
Everyday Affordable Hair Products
From hair towels, to hairspray, these are affordable hair products that I use on a regular basis- and none of them cost over $20! They are available online at stores like Ulta for easy ordering- or you can always shop in store!
Hair Towel
Until about a year ago, I used to use the same towel to dry off my body and my hair. I was constantly dealing with frizzy hair! Now I throw it up in this microfiber towel until I’m ready to deal with it and my hair! It’s great for fine hair.
Dry Shampoo
I would be absolutely lost without dry shampoo!! It has taken me years to find a dry shampoo that I like. Last Christmas I got Living Proof Dry Shampoo in my stocking and I haven’t had to try anything else since. I don’t notice any of the white residue that other dry shampoos left in my hair- or the stickiness. I like the travel size because it fits in all of my little bags that I throw things in for the gym, hopping on the plane, over night stays, etc.
Wide Tooth Comb
After I curl my hair, I run this Conair Comb through lightly to break up the curls. It gives me the perfect beachy wave look!
Heat Protectant
Obviously my hot tools aren’t under $20 (in my dreams though!!), but the step before curling my hair is spraying it with a heat protectant. I think this is one of the main reasons my hair stays healthy even though I color and curl it fairly often! I am addicted to the DryBar Hot Toddy Heat Protectant. DryBar carries some great affordable hair products that will give your hair the feel (and smell!!) of a fresh blowout without the cost.
Flex Hairspray
Some people may disagree here, but I like a hairspray that holds but still lets me move. I can’t deal with sticky hairspray that leaves my hair feeling rock solid. Ain’t nobody got time for that! Living Proof Flex Hairspray was another stocking stuffer last year and it’s a lifesaver! Great hold without the stickiness + my hair still has movement! I also do the travel size in this!
Hair Clips
If you have a lot of hair like me, hair clips are a MUST! Whether it’s when I’m blowdrying my hair, or curling it, I like to section off what I’m working with. I do 2-3 layers on each side of my head, but do what works best for the amount of hair you have! One side of my head is way thicker than the other, so that is also something I have to pay attention to. I love these Assorted Hair Clips from Ulta!
Volumizing Powder
This is my secret weapon!! When my hair starts to feel flat during the week (because I honestly wait to wash my hair as long as possible, typically 5-7 days), I throw some of this Big Sexy Volumizing Powder in for an extra umph. It’s also something I use when curling my hair more than the basic day-to-day look. Date night = power for sure. Pro-tip: make sure you really rub it in to your scalp since it is a white powder!
Wet Brush
I used to have a terrible habit of waiting to brush my hair until it was dry… That meant lots of tangles to work through and a not any fun. I found this Wet Brush that I now use after every shower and there is no turning back! It brushes through my wet hair like butter and I am so thankful I was told to try it by one of y’all!!
Other Ulta Favorites *Not* Under $20
Okay so not everything I use can be under $20… but I’m okay spending a bit more on my shampoo and conditioner + styling hot tools!

Shampoo + Conditioner
I was recently turned onto this shampoo + conditioner combo from Emily Alders at Abstrkt Studio in Frisco: Pureology Hydrate Shampoo + Pureology Hydrate Conditioner. Large bottles are upwards of $80, but the “regular” size run around $30. I also started using Strength Cure Best Blonde Miracle Filler Treatment! You can also buy these directly from your hair salon if they carry Pureology or from Pureology.com.
Hair Styling Hot Tools
My curling iron of choice isn’t carried online anymore… but I’ve had my eye on this DryBar 3 Day Bender to replace my current curling iron that is on it’s last thread. Seriously, Austin had to tape the cords with electrical tape and now the tape is starting to pull off. WHOOPS! My blow dryer and straightener aren’t on their last leg, but they also aren’t available online. I think that is why I don’t mind spending more money on these products… they last FOR.EV.ER. Here are a few products that I’ve been eyeing when it’s time to replace them… As far as a blow dryer goes: DryBar Buttercup Blow Dryer or the major splurge, Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer. And for a straightener: Chi Original Ceramic Hairstyling Iron or, (this will be a shocker, another DryBar item!!) DryBar Brush Crush Heated Styling Brush.
