Before you @ me for posting about the best ice cream shops in Dallas Fort Worth in August, let’s chat. A) ice cream is meant to be eaten year round and B) it’s still hot as heck in DFW for quite a few more weeks. Now that we’ve got that taken care of, on to the important things… like which ice cream shops in Dallas (and beyond) you must visit next time you’re craving a frozen treat.
My Favorite Ice Cream Shops in Dallas Fort Worth
Azucar Ice Cream Company | Bishop Arts Dallas
YOU GUYS. I first experienced Azucar at a Chefs for Farmers dinner, and I was blown away. I ran to the store the very next day because I needed more. My order was a double scoop of Salted Caramel and El Mani Loco– both fantastic choices. Of course you can sample to find your own perfect mix. They are a farm to cone ice cream shop and make everything themselves. Low key already planning my next trip back to Bishop Arts for a cone…

Cow Tipping Creamery | Frisco Star and Carrolton
I’ve been told to try Cow Tipping Creamery for years, but finally had the chance to stop by the location at The Star in Frisco. I can say with confidence that Cow Tipping Creamery is everything it was hyped up to be. The soft serve ice cream was smooth- and the “extras” really took the ice cream up a notch. I ordered the Brownie and Cookie D’Oh.
Address: 3685 The Star Blvd Suite 201, Frisco, TX 75034 and 1309 S Broadway St, Carrollton, TX 75006
Milky Treats | Plano
If you’re looking for a fun place to take your friends in family in the Plano area, Milky Treats is calling your name! We had a little date night at Milky Treats and enjoyed the heck outta the delicious treats! They have glazed donuts you can make ice cream sandwiches with, milkshakes, scoops of ice cream… so many choices, so little time!!
Address: 7000 Independence Pkwy #104d, Plano, TX 75025
Sweet Firefly | Richardson
This is our neighborhood favorite! We first discovered Sweet Firefly after going to dinner next door at Frankie’s Mexican. Every time we visit we’re welcomed in by the friendly staff and asked what we’d like to sample. Yup, samples. Take a gander at all of the options and then taste test the flavors that are flipping your switch. Pro tip: the blue one (cookie monster) is amazing, as long as you’re okay with a blue tongue.
Address: 2701 Custer Pkwy #810, Richardson, TX 75080
Cauldron Ice Cream | Knox Henderson
Beyond the Instagram aesthetic, Cauldron serves up some tasty ice cream in puffle cones. A puffle cone is a puffy bubble waffle cone– served hot and fresh. They also have different flavors of the puffle cones, like red velvet. Now I’m drooling just thinking about it. I ordered the Sea Salted Caramel Crunch, which is Caramel Ice Cream and pretzel bits for crunch. Topped with sea salt and house made caramel ribbons.
Address: 3001 Knox St #103, Dallas, TX 75205
SuperChix | CityLine, Frisco and Addison
Super Chix is probably not on your ice cream radar, but it should be. They have new custard flavors every week. Our go-to choice is the Reeses® Peanut Butter Cup cold fusion. Pro-tip: order it with vanilla custard instead of chocolate.
Address: 9169 Dallas Pkwy Suite 100, Frisco, TX 75034, 14999 Preston Rd Suite 226, Dallas, TX 75254 and 1551 E Renner Rd Suite 830, Richardson, TX 75082
Howdy Homemade | Park Cities
So, my love for Howdy Homemade might run a little deeper than just the scoops of ice cream… Austin took me on a date here the night he asked me to officially be his girlfriend. Let me stop you right there, yes, he did have to ask me. I wasn’t ever going to ASSUME we were official. It was cute. Promise.
But besides my sentimental attachment, I love the fact that Howdy Homemade empowers people with special needs by bringing them on to their team and teaching them how to succeed at life.
