Why We Chose To Stay At The Lane Boutique Hotel
I spent quite a bit of time researching Galway hotels for our one night in Galway. We knew comfort was going to be key for this hotel stay, as it was the first nights sleep after traveling to Ireland from Texas. We flew into Dublin, rented our car and drove straight to Galway. Beyond comfort, we wanted to be able to park the car and walk to explore the city. We also looked into hotel amenities, cost and of course availability for the night we needed.
You can follow The Lane on Instagram and Facebook to see more.
The Lane Boutique Hotel Rooms and Amenities
There is free wifi in the rooms and common areas of the hotel. The hotel is non-smoking and there is an elevator. It also felt very safe! Each room has heaters, blackout curtains, a fridge, TV, coffee/tea maker, hair dryer and toiletries. We found the beds to be really comfortable, but do pay attention when booking your room at the different size of beds. The bathroom was on the larger side. Everything from the common area to the rooms was very clean. The rooms themselves are small, but still had enough space for getting ready and luggage. And speaking of luggage, if yours gets a bit scuffed up during your trip like ours did, this post is helpful for how to clean scuff marks off a suitcase.
Check in time for the hotel is from 3-9pm. Check out ends at 11am. The hotel reception desk is open from 9am-9pm. Note, you can still get in and out of the property beyond those hours.
Parking at The Lane
There are limited spots to park your car onsite at The Lane for €10. However, you can park for a discounted rate of €12 (for 24 hours) at the multi-level “City Park” parking garage. The parking garage (or car park) is on Fairgreen Road, directly across the entrance of the Coach Station. Transparently, it took us one loop around the area to find the parking garage, but once we found it, it was very easy to get from there to the hotel.

While it is a quick walk to all of these places, I would consider it just on the outside of it all. We loved the location because it was a few minutes away from everything we needed during out quick trip, but it was also very quite at night which allowed us to get a great night of sleep.

Visiting Galway
While it was a short period of time, Galway was one of the highlights of our Ireland road trip. You can do so much in this city! It’s the perfect combination of the options a city provides and the charm a smaller town give you. We can’t wait to come back to visit and explore more!
Erye Square in Galway
The Erye Square would be the perfect spot to enjoy a picnic and take in the beauty of Galway.
Latin Quarter in Galway
We were in Galway on a Saturday with beautiful weather. The streets were buzzing with people and the pubs were full. It was wonderful to people watch and explore. Everyone we encountered was friendly and kind.
I didn’t do too much research ahead of our stay in Galway, but knew we would be able to find lots of options once we started walking. We ended up eating at The Front Door Pub, which is part of the pub Sonny Molloy’s. The Fish & Chips were some of the best of our trip and the Southern Fried Chicken Strips were also outstanding. Despite how busy it was, we experienced great service during lunch. It’s located at 8 Cross Street Upper, Galway, H91 YY06, Ireland.
There is no shortage of pastry and coffee shops in this area of Galway! Sunday before we left town for the Cliffs of Moher, we stopped by Espresso 44 for breakfast and coffee. It’s located at 44 William St, Galway, Ireland.
If you’re into sneakers, (or should I say trainers), you will love exploring the shops. We popped into a few different stores and I wanted half of what I saw. There were also quite a few jewelry stores, which looking back, I wish I would have picked up something to remember the trip by. Next time!
Is Galway Worth Visiting?
Whether you can stay for one day or five days, Galway is worth visiting while you’re in Ireland. It was truly magical. Because our stay was so short, I don’t know how many days you need in Galway to truly get a feel for it, but I feel like 2 days is about right if you’re exploring all of Ireland. But I’m sure a longer trip would be delightful!
