For as long as I can remember I’ve had to wear 2, sometimes 3, sports bras in order to find some support. Playing volleyball, basketball, dancing…. it’s all fun and games until your boobs grow! After 10+ years of wearing mediocre sports bras and constantly washing them because I’d go through all of them in a week… I made it my mission to find supportive sports bras for big breasts! While a lot of magazine articles and brands that advertise having supportive sports bras for big busts, more often than not the sports bras don’t go above D/DD cup. That’s not the case with the sports bra for heavy breasts in this post. All of these bras go plenty above DD, as I personally wear a size 36J UK / 36M US bra size.
The research work is never done, but I feel like I have a decent list of sports bras for large breasts to help you find something that suits your personal needs. These are the sports bras for big busts that I have found to work for me for various types of workouts, styles and price points.

Best Supportive Sports Bras For Heavy DDD & Up Breasts
Before we dive into the best sports bras for big boobs, here are a few reminders!
For sizing reference, I normally wear a 36J UK bra/36M US bra. Some of these photos are from when I wore a 36H UK bra, but I’ve made sure to notate that in the fit reviews.
Even with sports bras, it’s important to be properly fitted so you know your correct bra size. You can set up an appointment in person at Nordstrom or virtually with Bravissimo.
The supportive sports bras for big breasts are sorted by my classification of high, medium and low impact workouts. Some of the bra options are advertised as different levels of impact, but if I didn’t find it supportive enough for that activity, I bumped it to a different impact category.

For those of you who don’t want to bother scrolling through all of the options, you can quickly shop (most of) the sports bras for big busts that I share in this post!
High Impact Sports Bras For Heavy Breasts
These DD+ sports bra options are for higher impact activities like jumping, running, dancing, etc! I personally don’t run (I’ve had 6 knee surgeries), I do enjoy workout classes that involve dancing and jumping. I also do some light jumping when I lift and occasionally jog during my hot girl walks.
These are a few great supportive sports bras to wear during high impact workouts.
Bravissimo Astrid Sports Bra
This Bravissimo bra reminds me a lot of the Freya Dynamic sports bra. It has a great, supportive band and claps in the back. This bra is not padded, nor does it have underwire. The straps are adjustable and you can cross them for additional support. This sports bra is a little bit higher on the front which is a great way to feel secure during workouts. Plus the bra is CUTE. This is one of the sports bras for big busts that I reach for for my weekly dance class! It comes in band sizes 28-38 and cup sizes D-J (UK). I find the band to run a little small and do my sister size with this sports bra.
Shop the Astrid Sports Bra at Bravissimo. As of the time I’m writing this, there’s one style that’s on sale!
Bravissimo Venus Sports Bra
This Bravissimo bra is probably my all time favorite, but I think it’s being phased out based on the somewhat limited sizes available. It offers high support via a strong band and relatively high neck. It can be worn racerback or regular straps and they are adjustable. There aren’t any pads or underwire with this sports bra. It comes in band sizes 28-38 and cup sizes D-J (UK).

OTI x Bravissimo Performance Non Wire Sports Bra
This supportive high impact sports bra is similar to the above Bravissimo Astrid sports bra. I personally find the Astrid to offer more support, but this is another great option when looking for a sports bra for heavy breasts. It has adjustable straps and they can be clasped together in the back for a racerback fit. It comes in band sizes 28-38 and cup sizes D-J (UK). I find the band to run a little small and do my sister size with this sports bra.

Freya Dynamic High Impact Wire-Free Sports Bra
I own a few different colors of the wire free Freya Dynamic, one of the most supportive sports bras I wear. These sports bras offer high support for your chest while you move around in your workout. It has adjustable straps that clasp in the back. The straps can be clipped together for a racerback fit or worn “regular” with straps staying to each side. This sports bra for heavy breasts is bra sized. It’s a wireless sports bra and sized with normal bra sizes. While it’s not as crucial for a precise fit with no underwire, I still recommend you get fitted! It comes in band sizes 28-40 and cup sizes DD-J (UK). I have this bra in both my sister size and regular size for fit reference.
Shop Freya High Impact Sports Bra at Amazon and Bravissimo. I know sports bras for big breasts aren’t the cheapest, but this is ~$65 well spent!
Elomi Underwire Energise Sports Bra
I have been wearing the Elomi Energise sports bra since early summer 2019, and it does not disappoint! This high impact sports bra for large breasts has underwire, which gives it additional support. The colors it comes in are pretty basic, but there are a few fun patterns for my gals who like to have a little fun with their workout clothes. The sports bra runs around $65, but if you stalk Bare Necessities, you can usually find a good sale! Please, please get fitted at Nordstrom (or similar department store) before ordering this high impact sports bra as it is bra-sized! It’s available in band sizes 32-46 and cup sizes DD-K (UK).
Shop Elomi Energise Sprots Bra at Amazon, Bare Necessities and Nordstrom.
Bravissimo Inspire High Impact Crop Sports Bra
Another great option for someone who prefers underwire support in their sports bras for large chests. Instead of a bra like look, this high impact sports bra has the underwire hidden under a crop top style. It is available in band sizes 30-40 and UK cup sizes E-L.

Bravissimo Swift Non Wired Sports Bra
This wireless sports bra is a new launch for Bravissimo. It’s another great high impact option for those looking for something that will clasp in the back. It’s got a thick band and 4 hooks for closure in the back. The straps are not adjustable on this sports bra. It’s available in band sizes 28-38 and UK cup sizes DD-J.

Medium Impact Supportive Sports Bras for Big Breasts
These sports bras for large breasts are great to grab for medium impact workouts. You can of course also wear them for low impact workouts, and if your breasts aren’t quite as large or heavy as mine, you could wear them for higher impact workouts as well.
Glamorise No Bounce Sports Bra
If you want a great sports bra that comes in around $40, this one from Glamorise is worth a try! While it’s not as heavy duty as the Bravissimo bras, it does a great job holding the girls in. It also comes in many different colors! The sizing is a little bit off, so it could take a few tries to get the right fit. I am wearing a 38J US, and usually wear a few cup sizes larger. If you order via Amazon, you can do the “Try Before You Buy” program.
Shop Glamorise Women’s No-Bounce Camisole Sports Bra Wire Free at Glamorise, Amazon (usually best price!), Walmart, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Nordstrom and Bare Necessities.
Lorna Jane Compress and Compact Sports Bra
This Lorna Jane sports bra is a lower-medium impact sports bra for heavy breasts, in my opinion! It’s got a nice thick band, which helps provide a decent amount of support. The band is adjustable in the back to wear tighter or looser pending your needs. There’s also enough coverage to where I’m not falling out of the bra and it has thicker, adjustable straps. I personally wear it with the straps clasped as a racerback, but you can also remove that connection. I’ve worn it weight lifting, cycling and walking, but haven’t tried doing any dance or jumping workouts because I don’t think it will hold the breasts tight enough to my body. I wear XXL in this sports bra.

Girlfriend Dylan Tank Bra
The high neck combined with the compression has made this one of my favorite supportive sports bras for big busts. I have worn it for lifting weights, pilates, walks and biking with no issues. With that said, I don’t think I would jump around in it, personally. It comes in an array of cute colors that are seasonal and some that are always available. I wear large in this sports bra.

LIVI Active Medium-Impact Cooling No-Wire Sport Bra
Technically speaking, these sports bras don’t go up to my bra size (36J UK), but because it’s not underwire I have found there is some flexibility. I have the bra in size 38H US, and it comes in band sizes 36-48 and cup sizes C-H(US). I use this sports bra when lifting weights and have no issues with the support it provides. One great thing about Lane Bryant LIVI Active sports bras is the frequent sales if you’re willing (and able) to buy a few styles at one time.

Low Impact Supportive Sports Bras for Big Busts
These are sports bras for big busts I will wear for activities like pilates, going on a walk, barre, riding the bike, etc. I find the key for me when it comes to lower impact sports bras for large breasts is to get something that comes up higher on my chest. The additional coverage helps!
Girlfriend Tommy Cropped Bra
I started testing this sports bra for large breasts in spring of 2022, so it’s a newer bra for me. I find that the support is enough for me when it comes to going on walks or lifting, but I can’t do too much bending over (like pilates) because the breasts try to escape out of the top. With that said, I love the square neckline, so chic! In a perfect world, I would love another inch up top or adjustable straps to get that added layer of security. If your chest isn’t quite as big, but you have a similar under bust, I would guess you wouldn’t have this problem. I wear XL and it comes in sizes XXS-6XL.
Shop the Tommy Cropped Bra from Girlfriend.
Lululemon Like a Cloud Longline Bra Light Support
This lululemon sports bra for large breasts is the best for going on walks! It’s got enough coverage on the chest to where I’m not falling out of the bra, but not high support. I am wearing the D/DD style in size 12. The 14 does have more coverage but it felt too large in the band for me.
Shop the Like a Cloud Longline Bra Light Support from lululmeon.
Athleta Conscious Crop D-DD+
This Athleta sports bra for DD+ cups is great for low impact workouts or even just wearing it as a crop top to go out and about. It is so comfortable to wear and offers enough support for light working out or being on my feet all day in a sporty environment. I wear an XL in this sports bra and it comes in sizes XXS-3X. There are so many colors available, but I only have it in black.

JoyLab High Neck Sports Bra
I want to start off by saying this is not the most supportive bra I’ve tried. However, this is the most supportive bra for big breasts I’ve tried at this price point. I get asked frequently for bras that “don’t break the bank”, and I know first hand that it’s tough to spend upwards of $100 on a piece of clothing. So if buying a $60-$80 bra isn’t in your budget, try the high neck sports bra options similar to this old one from Target. They cost around $20 (and I got a bunch on sale for about $10 a piece). When I wear these bras, I still have some bounce, but it’s pretty minimal compared to the dozens of other bras I’ve worn over the years. I attribute a lot of this to two things: high neck coverage and a tight band.
I am sharing some similar high neck sports bras at various price points below. The one most similar to JoyLab is this Target sports bra for $16.
Shop similar high neck bras at Target, lululemon, Girlfriend and Amazon.
Lola Getts Double Scoop Bra Top
This bra has been good for riding the bike and going on walks, but I haven’t worn it for much else since I got it after my most recent knee surgery. While I can’t find the exact same Lola Getts sports bra I have, I did find something that looks super similar. It comes in sizes XS-4x and I have it in 1x.

Additional Sports Bras for Big Breasts You Might Like
When I was a few cup sizes smaller, I loved this Outdoor Voices sports bra. Another favorite from a few cup sizes ago… this Athleta sports bra for big busts, as well this sports bra also from Athleta. I have the Paloma sports bra from Girlfriend, but I haven’t quite figured out my fit there. I am wearing XL in the photo above, but it’s not quite right.
I’ve heard many great things about SheFit and Sweaty Betty. This Panache sports bra also has great reviews!
Bralette vs Sports Bra? What’s the Difference?
Bralettes are going to offer you less support than a sports bra will. Generally speaking, bralettes are typically worn for lounging around the house, sleeping, etc. I do sometimes wear bralettes out and about, but they shouldn’t replace the need for underwire bras. I also wear some of my lowest impact sports bras as bralettes, but don’t wear any of my bralettes as sports bras.
Can I Wear Sports Bras If I Have Larger DD & Up Breasts?
When I saw this question pop up on Google, I wanted to make sure I addressed it. Of course you can wear sports bras at any size, but it just might be harder to find a fit. Trial and error is inevitable, but hopefully the above reviews and details help make your hunt a little less stressful and quicker! It can also cost a bit more to find a good quality sports bra when you have large breasts. Keep in mind cost per wear and having a sports bra that lasts is a good thing! And your comfort is so worth it.
Are Sports Bras Good for Large Heavy Breasts?
Yup! They are good for large breasts and help prevent back pain when working out. The more supportive the sports bra, the less bounce and pain to come. I will say that my best sports bras aren’t comfortable to wear all day, they start to feel way too constrictive for normal wear.
Do Sports Bras Help Prevent Sagging in Large-Busted Women?
They sure do! Sports bras will offer lift and support for large breasts. Pending the style of sports bra, they might also offer separation (like the Elomi Energise).
What to Look for In a Sports Bra For Large Busts
First thing to think about is what type of activities you’ll be doing in the sports bra. Once you’ve considered this, think about details like underwire vs wire free, adjustable straps vs non adjusting, pulling over your head or clasping at the band, etc. Each sports bra for large breasts is going to offer support in slightly different ways, so you want to make sure you have what works best for your shape, size, activity, etc. And of course, finding a sports bra in your size and getting properly fitted is key!
How Should a Sports Bra Fit?
A good sports bra will fit snug in the band, but not cause pain. You want to barely be able to pull it off your body. The straps shouldn’t dig into your shoulders. Don’t forget that support comes from the band, not the straps! You want to make sure your breast tissue is able to stay tucked into the sports bar while you move around. There’s a fine line between feeling supported and feeling too suffocated and uncomfortable.
What Size Sports Bra Should I Get?
If the sports bra is bra sized, go with your normal bra size or sister size. Don’t forget a proper fitting is crucial! If the bra is sized L, XL, etc, go with the under bust size chart measurement or use the above fit reviews to guide you. It doesn’t hurt to order 2 sizes so you can compare and return the size that isn’t a fit.
Do the Sports Bras Listed Above Work for Running with Heavy Big Busts?
I would stick to the high impact sports bras listed above for any running, but you might find luck in the medium impact as well.
