Tis the Season: 10+ Holiday Date Ideas in Dallas Fort Worth
Is it just me, or is getting into the Christmas spirit the absolute best? I’m ready for carols to be stuck in my head, trees to decorated, lights to be hung on roofs… and to go on all sorts of holiday dates with my boo. He just doesn’t know it yet 😉
There are so many ways to get in the holiday spirit, and I’m a firm believer in two things: 1) that Santa Claus is real and 2) that these holiday dates ideas in Dallas Fort Worth are the best ways to spend the weeks leading up to Christmas.
Relax and Recharge with a Holiday Spa Day
Vivian’s Boutique Spa in Lower Greenville is one of my favorite places to visit all year ’round… But when it comes to holidays, it’s next level greatness at Vivians. You can book a couples day of pampering with fun themed services like: Spiced Cranberry Cobbler Massage, Frosted Red Raspberry Custard Facial and Orange Glazed Gingersnap Foot Ritual. And of course you can make it an entire spa day by booking a combination of services… more on that here.
Stroll the Christmas Festivals and Light Shows
The Grapevine Northpole Village is an opportunity to shop, make a cookie cutter or explore a snowy tree farm. With snacks and photo opportunities, this would make for a great holiday date idea in DFW!
If looking at Christmas lights while sipping on hot chocolate is more your speed, Enchant is back in DFWthis year. They’ve also got ice skating if that tickles your fancy!
Prefer to stay in your car when looking at lights? Radiance Christmas in Frisco and Dallas Zoo Lights presented by Reliant should be added to your date idea list.
Make Your Own Christmas Presents at Painting with a Twist
Remember when you were in grade school and you would make homemade Christmas presents for your family? It was such a creative, sweet gesture and I love that teachers, babysitters and after school programs made it a point to include the creative outlet during the holiday months. Flash forward to adulthood. Crafts and homemade gifts are STILL COOL. Especially when you involve a little wine.
Painting with a Twist offers a ton of class options. They have locations throughout DFW and each different session has a different painting you’ll get to create. Find a painting you love and pencil that into your calendar. Grab a bottle of wine and your boo, because you are in for a silly, romantic date night (that doubles as a gift for you or a loved one). It’s a win-win!
Have A Progressive Day Out at Holiday Bars/Coffee Shops
Stop by one of the fun Christmas pop up bars in DFW, such as Royal38 Bar, Tipsy Elf and Sippin’ Santa. Or join in on a fun holiday crawl like the Ugly Sweater Bar Crawl, 12 Wines of Christmas or 12 Bars of Christmas events.
Get Tickets to See Your Favorite Christmas Shows Live
There are dozens of holiday shows to see during November and December in the area. It may seem like one of the more obvious holiday date ideas in Dallas Fort Worth, but you’d be surprised how many people don’t think about watching a live show! I’m listing a few suggestions below… but if I missed one that you’ve seen, holla at your girl.
Texas Star Dinner Theatre, A Cold Hearted Christmas November 19-December 26, 2021
Dallas Symphony Christmas Pops December 3-12, 2021
Dallas Symphony Hollywood Holidays December 17, 18, 19, 2021
The Nutcracker, Texas Ballet Theatre November 26 – December 26, 2021
Have a Staycation in Grapevine
Nothing says romance like a festive hotel stay… Seriously though. Getting out of the house and away from chores, commitments and your daily life is a real treat, even if you’re only driving a half hour to do so.
Since it is the Holiday season, we are not talking about any ordinary hotel, we are talking about the Gaylord Texan! The hotel is home to one of the most memorable holiday experiences in DFW. This year, the theme features experiences centered around the beloved holiday movie Elf. The Gingerbread houses, snowball fights and photo experiences make this a holiday season must do. Book your stay or activities before time runs out!
Take a Carriage Ride Through Highland Park
This is on my must do date list this year. I’ve driven through Highland Park on my own to look at lights, but I can only imagine how magical it would be to ride on a horse drawn carriage with your loved on snuggled up beside you. Seriously. Call me a cheeseball, but there is something so damn romantic about holiday date nights that involve something as simple as looking at lights.
I did some research and found that Four Winds Carriage Co. and Brazos Carriage are both great options when planning this date night.
Celebrate the 12 Days of Christmas at the Dallas Arboretum
The Dallas Arboretum is always at the top of my list for date ideas in Dallas, especially when it comes to holiday date ideas. The 12 Days of Christmas exhibit has even been named “One of the South’s Best Holiday Experiences” by Southern Living Magazine.
Celebrate the holidays with charming costumed characters, whimsical animals and music made famous by the beloved Christmas carol. Every gazebo is decorated and festive. You will be awe struck at how everything comes to life. It’s the perfect winter wonderland to walk through hand in hand with your boo thing.
Attend a Christmas Lighting Event
Call me bias (Go Frogs!), but my favorite tree lighting event is in Fort Worth at TCU. But there are tons of other special lighting ceremonies throughout the metroplex. Most offer fun, festive atmospheres, complete with hot cocoa and carols… And it’s one of the great free holiday date ideas in Dallas Fort Worth.

Go Ice Skating At Panther Island
Looking for a chance to go ice skating with your S/O? Panther Island Ice, Fort Worth’s best outdoor skating rink, is calling your name. It opens on November 17th and stays open through January 17th.
